ITINERARY

Day 1

Our private car will pick you up at either the airport or from your accommodation in Reykjavík.

On our way to Knarrarholt we will stop and explore Þingvellir National Park, a Unesco World Heritage Site where the Vikings established the world’s first democratic parliament over 1000 years ago. This stunning setting features a valley caused by the meeting of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.

After exploring this beautiful park we will go to Laugarvatn and take a look at  Fontana, geothermal bath. Like many locations in Iceland, Laugarvatn belongs to a hot zone. In the grounds of the village, the lake and the shore of the lake, boiling waters erupt into hot springs. The hot water and springs have been used for cooking, bathing, geothermal house heating and healing steam bathing since 1929.

From there we’ll take you to the small community of Knarrarholt which will be our base for the three days. You’ll have some time to settle into your room or have a dip in the hot tub before dinner is served!

Day 2

After you had a good night sleep and a nice breakfast with coffee or tea we will head off in our 4×4 super jeep.

We will begin our tour in Þjóðveldisbær that is a old reconstructed farm and is based on the excavated farmhouse Stöng from the Commonwealth Era in Iceland. We will also drive to Stöng that was believed to have been destroyed in the Hekla eruption in the year 1104.

From Stöng we will travel to the small valley Gjáin, which is one of Iceland’s pearls of nature. There are 2 waterfalls there which cascade from Rauðá river into the gorge – Gjárfoss and another smaller one. You can also see ponds and volcanic structures.

After seeing this stunning nature we will BBQ for you.

We will also take a look at waterfalls that are nearby like Hjálpafoss, he is a pretty unique double waterfall that joined at its base into a very large plunge pool surrounded by some rugged lava formations.

We will also see Háifoss that is 122 meters high and is situated in Fossá river, which is a spring water tributary of the glacial river Þjórsá, Iceland’s longest river.

Day 3

This day depends when your flight is from Keflavik or when you want to arrive Reykjavík.

After good night sleep and a nice breakfast with coffee and tea. You can relax and on the way to next destination we will stop and see the great Geysir and Gullfoss.

The great Geysir hot spring area with boiling mud pits, exploding geysers and the lively Strokkur which spouts water 30 metres (100 ft) into the air every few minutes.

In Gullfoss the water plummets down 32 meters in two stages into a rugged canyon which walls reach up to 70 meters in height. On a sunny day shimmering rainbow can be seen over the falls.

After this stunning nature we will head off and drive you to your next destination.
